Privacy Policy

We collect the following types of information:

• Account information: Name, email address, and institution when you register.
• Academic data: Assignments, schedules, grades, and notes you enter into the app.
• Profile photo: If you upload a profile picture, it is stored locally in your browser.
• Google account information: If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from Google. We do not receive your Google password.
• Usage data: Basic information about how you interact with the app (page visits, feature usage).

• To provide and operate the Kairos app and its features.
• To personalise your experience (e.g., display your name and profile photo).
• To send deadline reminders via browser notifications (only if you enable this).
• To improve the app based on usage patterns.
• To respond to support requests.

Most of your data (assignments, schedules, settings) is stored locally in your browser's localStorage and does not leave your device unless you use backend features such as file import/export. File processing is performed server-side on our Render-hosted backend and files are not retained after processing is complete.

When you choose to sign in with Google, we use Google OAuth 2.0. We only request access to your basic profile information (name, email, profile picture). We do not access your Google Drive, Gmail, or any other Google services. Your Google credentials are never stored by Kairos - authentication is handled entirely by Google.

Kairos uses localStorage and sessionStorage (not cookies) to store your session and preferences locally in your browser. No third-party tracking cookies are used.

We do not sell, trade, or share your personal information with third parties, except:

• Service providers: Render (hosting) processes requests on our behalf under their own privacy policy.
• Legal requirements: If required by law or to protect rights and safety.

Your locally stored data persists until you clear your browser data or use the "Clear All Data" option in Settings. Server-side file processing data is discarded immediately after the operation completes.

Kairos is intended for students aged 13 and above. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.

You have the right to:

• Access, correct, or delete your personal information.
• Withdraw consent for browser notifications at any time via Settings.
• Clear all app data via Settings → Clear All Data.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
